Our mission is to create an economic opportunity for Black female students majoring in Education at Savannah State University to matriculate through college without financial burdens.

THE GAIL M. FRAZIER LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP


The Gail M. Frazier Legacy Scholarship was established in memory of Gail Monica Frazier, a 1978 Elementary Education graduate of Savannah State College. To commemorate her birthday on August 19th, every year on that date The Gail M. Frazier Legacy Foundation is honoring her commitment to education and love for her alma mater by awarding one Savannah State University Black female undergraduate student who has declared the major of Bachelors of Science in Education. This academic scholarship provides a payment directly to Savannah State University to cover: tuition, room, board, books, expenses and/or related supplemental education incidentals.

ABOUT GAIL M. FRAZIER


Gail M. Frazier was a passionate educator who adored giving young children the foundation they needed to fall in love with learning. Born the second of seven children, she enjoyed playing the school teacher as a child. Her seventh grade teacher, Mrs. Helen Fletcher inspired her to pursue a career in Education. After graduating from Beach High School in 1970, Gail entered what was then Savannah State College now University. As a young mother, she attended college part time, while working part time and raising her daughter.  She was determined to complete her degree and pursue her dream of being a teacher. After 8 long years, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1978. She completed her student teaching at Gadsden Elementary in Savannah, GA. Ms. Frazier began her official teaching career as a second grade teacher at Seckinger Primary School in Glennville, GA where she molded young minds for 3 years.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM​

A scholarship program exclusively for Black female students majoring in Education at Savannah State University.
We are offering a range of scholarships based on financial need, academic merit, and leadership potential.

MENTORING & NETWORKING​

We offer a mentoring program that connects Black female Education majors with successful professionals in the field who can provide guidance, support, and networking opportunities.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Curated events with guest lecturers and panel discussions featuring experienced Educators and professionals from the Education sector to help students gain practical experience through internships, practicums, and community service projects.
